Riau 2025 Karhutla Jambore Officially Closes, Strong Synergy as Key to Preventing Forest and Land Fires

Siak, IndoChannel.id – The 2025 Riau Province Jamboree for the Prevention of Forest and Land Fires (Karhutla) officially concluded on Sunday (27/4/2025) at the Sultan Syarif Hasyim Grand Forest Park (Tahura SSH) area in Minas District, Siak Regency. The solemn closing ceremony was led by Riau Governor H. Abdul Wahid, S.Pd.I., M.Si, accompanied by Riau Police Chief Inspector General Dr. Herry Herjawan, S.I.K., M.H., M.Hum, and Chairman of the Riau Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD), Ir. H. Kaderismanto.

The event was attended by key figures from various civil and military institutions. Present were Riau Deputy Governor Ir. H. S. F. Hariyanto, M.T., representatives from the 031/WB Military Regional Command (Danrem), Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base Commander (Danlanud), Deputy Naval Base Commander (Palaksa Lanal) of Dumai, Riau High Prosecutor’s Office Head Dr. Akmal Abbas, S.H., M.H., and other Riau Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) officials. Also in attendance were heads of Riau Provincial Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), the Mayor of Pekanbaru, regents across Riau, District Military Command (Kodim) commanders, community leaders, scout representatives, and other invited guests, with the total ceremony participants reaching approximately 250 people.

During the closing ceremony, Riau Governor H. Abdul Wahid expressed his highest appreciation to all parties who actively participated in the 2025 Karhutla Jamboree. He emphasized the importance of synergy and collaboration between local governments, the police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Manggala Agni (forest fire brigade), volunteers, and all community elements in preventing and mitigating forest and land fires in Riau.

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Dr. Herry Herjawan, in his remarks, shared his impressions of the event, expressing pride in the spirit of togetherness and solidarity built throughout the activities.

“This jamboree is not just a ceremonial event but a real manifestation of our collective commitment to protecting Riau’s environment from the threat of forest and land fires,” said Inspector General Herry Herjawan.

“I witnessed extraordinary synergy between the TNI, Polri (Indonesian National Police), local governments, and various community elements. This solidarity is the main pillar in our efforts to prevent and combat Karhutla.”

Furthermore, the Riau Police Chief stressed that prevention is the most effective step in addressing Karhutla. He hoped that through this jamboree, participants gained useful knowledge and skills to become the frontline defenders against forest and land fires in their respective regions.

“I urge all participants to continue improving preparedness and vigilance against potential Karhutla incidents. Let us work together to educate the public about the dangers of forest fires and the importance of environmental conservation,” he added.

The closing ceremony concluded with the announcement of competition winners held during the event and prize presentations. This activity is expected to be a momentum-strengthening commitment and synergy among all parties to keep Riau free from forest and land fires. The entire event proceeded safely and orderly until 10:00 AM local time.
